I'm in!

I am in. I am now officially a student of Medialle College! I found out Friday.

I had the day off Friday, which was very relaxing, then I got the news. It made Friday a great day.

Company picnic was Friday night at the Bison's. They won, I heard! I was too busy chatting and drinking that the only thing I watched was my face from fowl balls. Thanks to my husband who watched the game and would yell over to us, "heads up!".

Saturday we headed down to Chautauqua. Huge thunderstorms down there Saturday night. Quinn loved the boat. Still not to crazy about the water.

Awaiting....

Awaiting my acceptance to Medialle. I should find out this week! Keeping my fingers crossed!

I can't even believe I saw this....

On Wednesday, I went home for lunch and heard a message on my answering machine. I said to myself, "Oh man, not again". We've been getting these messages for the last 6 months or so for this guy who must have previously had our phone number. It is long and irritating. It says, "This is an important message for Robert Berlinghoff. Please call us back at this number to retrieve this message". (it is longer than that because it gives all of the contact numbers and repeats them all twice)

I have called the number back a few times to get my number removed from the list, that this guy no longer owns this number. So Wednesday (it was the 19th, so remember that), I thought to myself, maybe if I pretend I'm his wife and I tell them he is dead, they'll finally get the hint.

Well, I look in the Buffalo News paper today. Every now and then I snoop through the death section. Hey you never know who you may see in there. This is what I find. OMG....ON THE 19TH. Did I curse him?? Holy shit.

My thoughts on this....

If you need a book on how to be a leader, than no you are not a natural born leader.

If you need to hang up with a co-worker and then call her a bitch, then no you are not professional.

I can't even make this stuff up....

I finally finished the essay for Medaille last night. Only took me weeks to sit down and pull the best BS out of my head. On to the story...

Last night we started powerwashing the house to get the paint chips off. The siding now has alot of little cuts in the siding. Our next step? Well not painting. We either need the siding we have now replaced, then paint or have it fully sided. Irony is, is that I had a message on my answering machine from the other day that I hadn't deleted yet from a contractor giving us the opportunity for a free estimate. They too know our house looks like shit.

This morning I put Quinn in the car and notice that the back driver side door wasn't closed all the way. Then I notice that my glove box is open and my console was up. I strap him in then look around. Weird, I didn't leave it that way. I then notice my CD's and my cell phone are gone. I was robbed in my own driveway. Are you kidding me? I start the car and my door ajar light comes on and the front passenger side was slightly open too. Punk kids wouldn't want to wake anyone by slamming the car doors. I called the cops this morning. I know there isn't a chance in hell I'll get my stuff back, but can you get these kids off the streets? When I called they said there were a few more complaints from my street.

1st step....admitting you have a problem

The problem I have is I’m severely paranoid. Let me give some examples:

It took me years to come to grips with, that if my husband was in a bad mood it wasn’t me.

Every time I am in a public place and hear a “snicker” near me, I think it is me. The way I look, the way I dress, do I have a booger?

Every time I get in a little tiff with a family member, friend, or co-worked I automatically assume they are mad at me, probably for life.

A lot of times at work if something goes wrong with something I’m involved in I automatically jump to the conclusion that I did it and screwed it up.

Sometimes I don’t do things or express myself because I think other people with think that I am stupid.

What is with this? Why am I this way? I need to relax man……

Nothing to write about....

Boring week. This work week is going soooo slow. I'd much rather be playing with the baby or going to the beach or both....

I still haven't figured out what to do about my neice. It is Jay's sister, so I am hoping that he will take the iniative. Why are we so quiet? Why are people so afraid to tell other people what they think or feel. I was able to tell off two eight year olds that cut me in line at the waterslide with no problem. No I wasn't mean, but why can I stand up to 8 year olds, and not people my own age? I'm not just talking about my sis in law. It's anyone. People I work with, friends or family. If it bugs me, say so...

So that's it from here. Hopefully something more exciting happens by the end of the week. (If it ever gets here...)

My dilemma

What do I do? I find out that my 14 year old niece has a my space page with "IM SINGLE" written in big letters and one of the comments to her is “are you really pregnant???”. Do I tell her mother?

I fear for her because 1. I don’t want her to end up missing or hurt and 2. because she is way to young to be acting like this.

I had my very first puking experience with Quinn. This was nothing compared to a little spit up of milk like when he was little. This was a 'run to the bathroom with your kid wrapped in a towel with flying projectiles coming out of his mouth' kind of puke. First in the bedroom, then on the bathroom door, wall, floor, rugs (I didn't know he had it in him!) then the tiniest little bit when I finally aimed his face into the toilet. Of course it was over by the time I had gotten there.

He had just gotten out of the bath so he was still in a towel, so after it was over I placed him in the empty bathtub in case more came. Poor thing didn't even know what hit him. He just sat there and talked to himself. I ran for the first kind of cleaner I could find and grabbed one of the bathroom washcloths and started cleaning. I had a full load of laundry when I was done. My clothes, the bathroom rugs, washcloths and towels.

This is one for the [baby] books!

Very strange lunch I had today. Stopped home to grab a few things, then off to the bank, post office and grab a little lunch.

First the bank. I pull aside so I can fill out my deposit slip. Of course while I’m sitting there those 2 minutes, about 10 cars go past me to go through the drive trough. I get nervous because I know I only have a limited amount of time, and two more errands after this. Turns out most of them went into the ATM line. Phew. I filled out my deposit slip just as I have for the last 15 years or so that I’ve had a bank account. I listed 3 checks, amounts, subtotals, cash amount back, and total.

Drive thru lady: You can’t do this.
Me: Do what?
DT lady: Take cash back on a check deposit
Me: What do you mean?
DT lady: you have 3 checks listed here. I’m going to have to cash one and give you the money.
Me: Um ok…..
DT lady: You can only do it if you have cash on here.
Me: (thinking and looking at her like she is a dumb ass) (If I was depositing cash, then I would have kept some)
DT lady: (noticing me looking at her like she is a dumb ass) Well it is too hard to explain through the drive thru.

I get my deposit slip, with the amount I wrote on there and the cash back that I requested. What was her story???

Off to the post office. These people are great. They are always suggesting to you that you can get it there faster, if you pay this much more. “um, would you like us to send that in our jet, it’ll get there in 5 minutes and it will only cost $1,000,000”.

This guy in front of my was sending some pictures to his granddaughter in Alaska. How do I know this? Because the lady behind the counter asked him what it was (no joke). What business is it of hers? Well it turns out she was trying to save him $5 in postage by switching boxes. Still none of her business what is inside.

My turn next. It took twenty minutes to mail a small box and a patted envelope. Why? Because of all of the options I have. 5 days, 3 days, drive it there myself….I had these options for each one. Thank you PO lady.

Off to Tim’s for a quick bite. New chicken salad wrap is awesome by the way. So as I am waiting for said wrap, there is a car in front of me with her dog sticking out of the window. Problem? Well, I think it is gross that little drive thru cook lady is rubbing the dog’s face and then going and making my food. Thank you dog lady.

Nice long weekend!

Fourth of July weekend was great. Headed down to Chautauqua early Friday evening. Nope no sign of Bucky. Stopped at Quality on Rte. 324 to pick up some food for the weekend. Got to the cottage around 9:00 or so. Quinn ran around until 10 and we got settled in.

Saturday we went to breakfast and then to Walmart. Jay forgot T-shirts so we bought some for him. Yes, I went to Walmart. I had no choice. They changed the old one into a super center. I was amazed. First, it was like being in Tops and Kmart built together. Plus it was actually the cleanest Walmart I have ever been in, so I really didn’t mind being there. We headed back to the cottage and cleaned up for the fam for when they showed up, which was about 1:30 or so. Spent the rest of the day relaxing, playing Kan Jam, and chasing Quinn! Headed to the best Mexican Restaurant around 7 called La Hacienda. They have the best salsa you’ve ever had. Plus they are fast. They came out and sang their little Mexican birthday song to Papa, complete with a sombrero and a fried ice cream dessert. Back to the cottage for a bonfire and marshmallows!

Sunday was on and off rain. Every time we uncovered the boat it would rain so we would have to cover it back off. Finally we said screw it, and went out anyways. Took the jet ski out and went swimming and tubing! Came back and had birthday dinner then went home.

Monday I had to work yuck. Jay stayed home with Quinn and took a 3 hour nap in the afternoon. Later we went to his brothers house for a little party and some fireworks. The cops came right as we were done. Nice timing. They just gave us a warning.

Tuesday was the Grand Island Parade, where Quinn was taped by Channel 4. He was later on the 12, 6, and 11 news spots only for about 3 seconds each time! Off to Fort Niagara for an all day picnic and swimming with Jay’s family. Fireworks at Fantasy Island to complete our weekend! There is just something nostalgic about the fireworks display every year! Quinn loved them too, he clapped and said “wasstha” (what’s that) the whole time!
